My view on the oil spill….
I’m not a politic person. I don’t get all caught up with the BS that goes on tv and such, but I have to speak my mind on the oils spill and Obama’s way of handling it. I really wish people would get off Obama’s back about the oil spill.
I mean is he the one who blew up the rig? NO! Is he the one who took kickbacks to look the other way at unsafe practices? NO! Is he the one pushing our husbands/fathers/brothers to get the job as quickly as possible and who cares about safety until so…meone gets hurt? NO! Thats the stupid OIL COMPANIES and their GREED for PROFIT!
I for one APPROVE of the ban on deep water drilling. SAFETY PROCEDURES NEED TO BE CHANGED!!!! Why do you think American rigs do NOT go to Norway to drill? It’s because they have the TOUGHEST laws on rigs and we NEED to FOLLOW THEIR DIRECTION.
And for EVERYONE who is griping about Obama, I know they have been griping about the oil field and When/If the ban is lifted they will all go back to gripping about the companies they work for.
3 yrs ago I came 1/2 an inch from losing my husband due to an offshore accident. I understand what the families of the men killed on the Horizon feel. To me everyone who is yelling and whining and griping about the ban needs to Shut the F*** Up, because all they are saying is, “I know the price of my loved ones life and it’s ok with me”. Really what means more to you? Your loved one or millions in compensation for their life? Will the money hug you? Will it cheer your children? Will it walk your daughter down the aisle? Will it make you laugh when you cry? No, it won’t.
Yes, deepwater rigs support probably 60% of the coast’s families and yes there is dark clouds on how they will pay their bills. BUT with the whole country watching this event, the oil rigs are under pressure and they won’t be able to do their backdoor deals without being seen.
It won’t be like us after signing the family medical leave act then find out a month later there aren’t no more paychecks, oh by the way we fired you too, and yes we won’t tell you we cut your insurance off until your kids are sick and need medicine and oh by the way all that money you put into 401k? you can’t have because you haven’t been with the company long enough.
We were all the rallying and support for the oilfield workers BEFORE this happened? It’s not like this is the first time something happened out there before due to unsafe procedures and EVERY single Oilfield Worker Out there KNOWS it!!! They ALL know the short cuts being taken and THEY have ALL B***HED about it and when they go back out to work again they WILL be doing it again.
I sympathize with the families who will be having a rough time because we’ve been there and we’ve done it and know it’s rough, especially with children. Wee went almost 2 yrs with no paychecks and no income, only surviving on what you can scrap up and what family and friends help you out with. But it’s just material things, NONE of it is More Important than your Loved One’s LIFE.
And THAT is What Obama Has the Balls To Protect!!!!
OB's they are sadists!
I swear OB dr’s are sadists! They love our misery. I’ve been having contractions on and off again since Sunday. I’m barely sleeping 4-5 hours a night which I can only get in the recliner. I’ve been sleeping there since Sunday and thats only because I can get comfortable enough to sleep for abit. The pain in my lower back won’t go away, it eases up to a tolerable level but gets up to tears in my eyes. Then you add in a migraine since Sunday. Yeah I’m not a happy camper right now. I can only take so much tylenol and hot showers. Lets not forget the fun swollen feet too.
So I go to my weekly appointment this morning. I’ve “gained” 8 lbs, which I can’t see and don’t believe. The dr said more in likely it’s just fluid retention, especially since realistically I’m barely eating because I’m nausea and food is going right thru me. He asks how I’m doing and I tell him and ask him to plese change the date of the c-section, I’m miserable and the pregnancy is considered full term and what does he say? “Let’s check and see if you are dilated any”…which I wasn’t..same problem I had with Aimee which is why they induced me for her.” Well you’re not dilated so you’re going to wait until until the 20th unless we see any progress next week”. WHAT?! *screams* Aaahhh!!
So more recliner sleeping and hot shower hopping and I’m going to add in a daily 30 min-1 hr walk and lets see if we can’t get things moving.
Baby Shower
Today was my baby shower. Woot I made it to and thru the shower all intact! *giggles*
I had a blast watching the kids play, visiting with family & friends and listening to everyone chit chat. The cake was yummy! It was a white cake w/ purple & green trim to green & purple booties on top, which the chocolate ice cream went great with. Of course we had a sandwich tray too. =) It was funny how the men hid on Mom & Dad’s side. LOL.

Attendees
Attendees included: Aunt Pookie; Aunt Vicky & Uncle Shelton; Mom (of course); Ms. Donna, Buster & Mia; Ms. Patsy and Ms. Andrea, Clayton, Lane & Lydia.
Here’s the [Pictures]. They were taken by myself and by Andrea who hid behind the camera for the picture above. lol.
randomness
So yeah wow, it’s been over a month since I’ve posted on here?! *chuckles* Sorry! There’s been many a times I’ve wanted to get on here and make a post and for one reason or another never got around to it. It’s 4:30 am and I should be sleeping but I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed over an hour ago. Can’t sleep, thirsty, hungry , hot…you know the story. So I’m just going to put up some random picks I think are cute.

Back to School…….

It’s that time of year again. Yep, School time!

James started 5th grade this year can you believe it?! I can’t. Wow! Where has all the time gone? He’s also a typical 10 yr old. He told me I could just drop him off that he didn’t need me to walk him inside. *pouts* I’m so proud of him. He’s excited about this school year and I hope that continues thru the year.

Aimee started Head Start. Aww…my wee baby. *cries* She was soo excited to go to school and she loves it. I know it will do her wonders on helping her speech because she’ll get the specialized therapy she needs. I hope she continues to love going to school.
a family first
Well we Finally did it! We had a First Ever Family Vacation.
You know we were stressed out before because we were broke and struggling and having money definitely doesn’t make all the stress go away. If anything we have more and newer stress because of everything we have to deal with regarding buying a home, buying a car, and investing our money. There is soo much you have to deal with that we were just overwhelmed and felt like we were in shark waters. So to fix that…..
Off to Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX. Jim had went about 4 yrs ago, I say went. He had an offshore meeting of some type and the were staying at the hotel at Moody Gardens and he got to look around and ever since then he’s wanted to take all of us.
We decided to go around 7pm Thursday night, packed the kids, loaded the car and headed out. We made it to Galveston around midnight. We checked in and went to bed.

As always I was up way before anyone else. I ran downstairs and got them some of the free breakfast. Not a wide selection so the kids got cereal at least. We knew MG opened at 10 so we left the hotel around 9:30 so we could make sure we got there with plenty of time.
We also wanted to take the kids to the beach so they could play in the water and figured we could fit it all in, thinking we would be done w/ MG by 2pm. Yeah right!

We ended up getting the day passes because you could do more and was cheaper then paying for the 3 pyramids we wanted to do separately.

We started off with the Rainforest Pyramid…
I LOVE the smell in there. The fresh air, fresh dirt, gosh if I could bottle that in a spray and take home I would be in heaven. Aimee got a kick out of the birds “talking” to her. They were cute. They didn’t have as much fish as Jim remembered but the signs said a lot had gotten damaged during Hurricane Ike.

Then we went to the Dino Tent outside. All the dinosaurs moved and made noises and Aimee clung on to Jim’s neck in tears the whole way thru. James of course Loved all the dino stuff. He was a happy camper. See that smile? At the very end they had a dino with the skin off hooked up to a control box that the kids could play with to make him move and then Aimee relaxed and said they were toys.
We were going to try and catch the 4D movie before we went to watch the 3D but we missed the showing, so instead we had a quick lunch. Then we lined up to watch the IMAX 3D Dino Alive movie. It was an interesting 45 minute show. It didn’t hurt my eyes nearly as much as the Ice Age 3D movie. It was cold in there and Aimee took herself a power nap.

After that I decided since the boat ride was included in our day passes and I promised Jim I would work on my fear of boats and water…..we went for a ride on the Colonel Paddleboat. It was 2 stories and it moved slow enough it didn’t freak me out too bad. The kids loved it. Of course I had Jim take a picture to prove I was on the boat with it in water. lol. It was a 45 minute trip around the “lake” water thingy.

When we docked back we went to the Discovery Pyramid. They had an exhibit on Bones. It was a small exhibit, but the kids got to see different bones from different animals and humans. Aimee put together a bone puzzle and they had different x-rays you could look at. They also had a film ride in there but the decision was made to skip because neither Aimee nor I could go on it. James was not happy about that but oh well.

The next Pyramid might as well had been called Aimee’s Pyramid. It was the Aquarium. We saw penguins, seals, huge turtles, seahorses, starfish. James’ favorite was the sharks. We took almost 2 hrs walking around in there. It was a big family hit. Aimee was going nuts being in awe of everything. The stingray would swim up the glass and you could see their belly and Aimee and James would go nuts telling them Hi. Every starfish Aimee was yelling, “Patrick!”. She didn’t want to leave there. We are going to have to make a trip to a big Aquarium somewhere.
To finish off our day at MG, all we had was the 4D movie & the Gift Shop. We got there in time to catch a showing of the 4D movie. Personally I think it sucked. The previews were awesome, but the actual show looked like it was made for tv not 3D, nothing popped out. At least it was only 15 mins. When it ended you went into the gift shop so that worked out. The kids got a small trinket and we got Mom a 1000 piece frog puzzle. hehe.
Our original plan was to go to Moody Gardens and since we thought we would be done by 2-3 pm we would take the kids to the beach. Well we didn’t finish until about 6pm and by that time we were hungry and tired. As Jim and I were discussing the beach, James immediately starting throwing a fit and crying like a 2 yr in the parking lot because all he heard was “no” and “beach”. Needless to say it was not the ending we were looking for on a family trip. So we just loaded them up and headed home.
Course we were hungry and by the time we hit Houston, from Galveston…James was STILL crying! So we made the parental decision that We wanted Joe’s Crab Shack and at that point we could have stopped at McDonald’s and James would still cry. So we got some yummy crab legs. It was my first time going on a Friday evening and man are they crazy! I snapped this footage of them dancing. After we ate we headed home and crawled into the drive away around midnight. Boy we were all tired and went straight to bed.
Randomness
Some random quizzes from Facebook that I thought were funny and uncannly true…….
Craziness…lol
I know it’s been awhile since I’ve dropped by and said hello to everyone. Every time I meant to something came up.
Oh my goodness. It’s definitely true that we can’t do anything half way. *sigh* If we’re not going at 100 mph we don’t feel normal I guess. We’ll have a few quiet days to a quiet week and then BAM everything changed and has to be done on the same day or bam, bam, bam things go wrong.
We love our son, but gee we fell like horrible parents. You try to not take it all personal, but how can you not feel like a failure when your child constantly back talks, ignores you, sasses, beats on himself, cat and siblings and generally does what he wants? Those rare days he’s an angel, others he makes Hitler look like a saint, but mostly he acts like a 16 yr city punk. We’ve tried everything we can think and then some. We’ve done everything the dr and therapists have suggested and it doesn’t help. We see the road he’s on and we don’t want that for him.
We keep teeling ourselves everything will smooth out after we move. He’ll a huge back yard to play in, plenty of room to inthe house to have his own space, there will be outside projects for him to work on. He wants to play football this year and we know he’ll wear himself out so he won’t be so wound up. We are praying and hoping anyways.
Aimee is being the typical toddler. She wants to do Everything her brother does, bad behavior included. She is now ignoring and beat herself and the cat up. Her speech still isn’t very clear but she tried more new words and sentences. She’s still an extremely picky eater and she started sleep walking!
Poor Cosmo. He’s gone from such a sweet kitty to a lil biter. You can’t really blame him though. Everytime we turn around 1 of the kids are throwing him, hitting him and generally being mean. We really don’t want to get rid of him, but at the same time his reaction is to bite first now and with the new baby coming we don’t want him to bite the baby. We decided today to get rid of him, but Jim is really have a hard time with the idea, so we’re going to keep him 1 more month and see if with both the kids going to school, if it will help calm his biting down.
Then of course you have the settlement stuff going on. We were waiting on the money so we could pay for our house and we signed all the papers Monday and we get our check Friday. yeah! So Friday we’ll be in Alexandria @ 8 am, then we have an apt with our bank in Lafayette with our Financial Adviser at 1pm. Then to top it off…
The house is ours, but we had to do inspections of course. Well that had it’s own issues. The light & gas company wouldn’t turn anything on because the house has been empty for 2 yrs, so we had to get the city inspector to go out and approve it. Which he did and the gas man went out and there weren’t any leaks, but there is only gas onour side, which is fine, but they wouldn’t leabe it on until the lights were turned on. The light company had to install 2 new meters because the others were busted, wel they dragged their heels and dragged their heels and finally went and installed 1 today. They were suppose to install 2! So now they can’t come back out until Friday to install the 2nd meter so we can inspect the whole house. So it looks like we’ll be doing that Friday too! Which it’s of course bringing it to the wire because our last day to inspect the house is Monday. We were really hoping to be doing the closing this weekend on it but looks like that’s getting pushed to next week.
Then…yeah I know. The van! The door behind the driver (the one Aimee goes in and out of) wouldn’t close today! We had to beat on it after Jim’s eye apt to finally get it to latch and close and we’re afraid to open it and more scared of it flying open while we driving down the road. We were going to wait 3-4 weeks before getting another vehicle because we didn’t want to “dirty” a newer one, but looks like that might be moved up too.
*sigh* I told you guys when it rains it pours over here. I just keep telling myself it’s just a test of my patience and to make sure I stay true and it will all work out as long as I have faith.
Oh! Sunday in Primary Str. Caple had the cutest activity for the kids, well James since he was the only one. It was a Family Tree that you wrote out with your name and your families names as the branches of the tree and then you glue on green leaves. James worked hard on it and I did one too and I thought it was just the cutest that I wanted to try myhand doing it in Mic. Publisher. What you think?

Well….I guess I’ve ran my mouth enough. I need to head to bed. Tomorrow I’m working on Sharing Time and CTR lessons because I’ll be all by my lonesomes Sunday so I want to make sure I have something fun, educating, fun, and fills all the time up. =)
*hugs & kisses to my sister Kara* Happy Birthday Sis!
Yeah it's ours!
Yeah! We’re homeowners!
We found out Tuesday that the other people couldn’t get a loan and the bank accepted our bid. We were so thrilled. We were told they were sending back an Addendum, basically saying they accepted the bid but changing something in it. We figured it was something like they didn’t want to pay for the title insurance. Nothing major.
Well, the papers finally came in today. Our agent brought them over himself. We signed them and the house is officially sold and off the market. We have 10 days to inspect it, they are going to provide the title insurance and we just have to go thru the attorney of their choosing for the closing.
We are so thrilled and excited our this new chapter we are embarking on in our lives. A place to call our own, with a yard for the kids to play in. Room for the kids to have friends over and family at holidays. Ahh..nice.
10 lbs lighter…
So after a long discussion with my hubby, we decided it was time for me to trim my hair up. All the weight it causes I know causes most of my daily headaches, so….I had it cut today.

Before

After
It’s still long, but it is taking some use to because I go to run my hand and the hair stops before I “know” it should and it throws me. lol.
